Season 2 ep. 26–37; Season 3 Part 1 ep. 38–49

Chapters 51 to 54, and the volume where arriving from the anime gets awkward. Season 2 ends inside chapter 51, the first chapter in this book, and season 3 then opens on that same chapter. A viewer who finished season 2 starts here and re-reads one chapter; a viewer who finished the first half of season 3 is five volumes further on and starts at Vol. 18. The where-to-start form answers chapter 52 for episode 37 and chapter 73 for episode 49. Box Set 4 begins here with Vols. 13 to 17 at $54.95, which is five volumes at list price and no discount.

What the book actually holds is the series changing genre without announcing it. There are almost no Titans in these four chapters. Hange states the theory that Titans were once people, which answers Connie's bloodless village four volumes back; the Survey Corps then finds the monarchy working against it, and the next four volumes are a coup. Chapter 51 is titled Squad Levi, and the re-formed squad is Eren and six of his fellow cadets. Krista takes her birth name here and is Historia Reiss for the rest of the run. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 April 2014.
