The world outside the walls arrives in chapters 83 to 86, in a basement, in writing. What the diaries in it say is not summarized here, because it is the answer twenty volumes were built to withhold and the section below is where it goes. Everything after this book is a different story told with the same cast. The choice the vial from Vol. 17 was set up for is also made in these pages. Season 3 part 2 covers chapters 73 to 90, so the anime has been through it. Omnibus 7 ends here with Vols. 19 to 21.

Levi chooses Armin, who eats Bertolt and inherits the Colossus Titan, and lets Erwin die after first wishing to save him, so that Erwin can rest in peace. The diaries then dismantle the premise. Titans are people, the walls are Eldian, the enemy is a nation called Marley, and the persecution the reader has watched from inside is the smaller half of one running the other way. Zeke is named as Grisha's son in these pages, twelve volumes after he first appeared in Vol. 9. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 December 2016.
