Season 3 Part 2 ep. 50–59

Chapters 87 to 90, which close the Return to Shiganshina arc and end the third season exactly at this book's last page. It is the best stopping point in the series. The question the story opened on is answered, the arc pays off every thread it started in Vol. 18, and a reader who stops here has a complete ninety-chapter story with a real ending. Season 3 part 2 covers chapters 73 to 90 and stops where this volume stops, so a viewer who finished it starts at Vol. 23, and Box Set 5 ends here as well, with Vols. 18 to 22 at $54.95. What follows is the Marley arc.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Eren Kruger's chapter is one this site quotes from twice, both lines sourced to the anime's rendering of it. The Curse of Ymir is stated here as well: thirteen years from inheritance, which gives Eren a countdown and gives the last twelve volumes their clock. The cruelest piece of engineering in the run lands in the same book, when Eren works out that the Titan that ate his mother was Dina Fritz, his father's first wife, and that her royal blood is why the Coordinate worked for him in Vol. 12. Ymir's letter to Historia arrives without her. The Japanese volume shipped on 7 April 2017.
