Final Season Part 1 ep. 60–75

Nothing after this book lets a reader back Eren without an argument, and it runs chapters 99 to 102. Willy Tybur tells the world the history of the walls and declares war. The Liberio raid opens here and does not finish until Vol. 26, so the book starts a battle and closes in the middle of it. The Final Season part 1 covers chapters 91 to 116. Colossal Edition 5 ends with this volume, holding Vols. 21 to 25 for $49.99 against $54.95 as five singles.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Chapter 100 is titled Declaration of War and it is built from a theater, an audience, a speech that is largely true, and an atrocity timed to its closing line. Willy's account of King Fritz and the vow of peace is the missing half of the history Grisha's diaries supplied in Vol. 21, and the reader is asked to take it from a man manipulating an international audience while he speaks. The Warhammer Titan arrives in the same volume and is the first enemy whose power is a problem of engineering rather than of strength. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 April 2018.
