Eren stops being the protagonist in chapters 111 to 114, and the series never gives the role back. By the end of those chapters Mikasa and Armin are his prisoners and an army is taking his orders. The wine is exposed in the same volume, which means Zeke can turn most of that army into Titans whenever he decides to. The Final Season part 1 covers chapters 91 to 116, so a viewer has seen it. Omnibus 10 starts here with Vols. 28 to 30.

The cruelty is calculated on two levels. Inside the story Eren is lying to drive them off, and the series confirms it late. On the page the accusation is the most effective thing he could have said, because the Ackermans have been a real bloodline in this world since Vol. 14 and the reader cannot rule it out either. Zeke's spinal fluid in the wine is the other half of the book: the euthanasia plan needs contact with the Founding Titan, and the volume ends with Zeke detonating a Thunder Spear on himself and Levi to force it. Whether Levi survives is left open across the volume break. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 April 2019.
