Chapters 115 to 118, and the last place the anime and the books fall out of step. The Final Season part 1 ends inside chapter 116, the second chapter in this book, and part 2 opens at chapter 117, the third, so a viewer who stopped between the two halves starts two chapters in. This is also where the box sets become legible again. Box Set 7 begins at this volume with Vols. 29 to 34, named by Kodansha, at $65.94 for six books, which is list price with no discount. Neither of the two sets before it names its volumes on its own Kodansha page.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
Zeke surviving the Thunder Spear is the volume's first move, and it introduces the paths, which is where much of the last five books takes place. Armin's reading of Eren is the other thing to note here: he works out that Eren is not cooperating with the euthanasia plan but using Zeke to reach something else, and he is right, and the series takes another two volumes to say what. Pieck also fakes her own death here, to set up a sneak attack on Zeke. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 August 2019.
