Final Season Part 2 ep. 76–87

Chapters 119 to 122, and the volume the series has been arranged to arrive at. Ymir Fritz is given her origin here, and the two-thousand-year promise in the title of chapter 1 is cashed by the title of chapter 122. Two of the lines this site records sit in these four chapters, both sourced to the Final Season's second half. It is the densest book in the run, the one that explains the machinery of the whole story, and the worst possible one to read out of order. The Final Season part 2 covers chapters 117 to 130, so a viewer has seen it. Colossal Edition 6 and Omnibus 10 both end here.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Eren is decapitated in this volume by a child with a rifle, which is the series keeping its own rule that Titan power is not protection. What follows is the causal loop: Eren, in the paths, reaches back through Grisha's memories and forces his father to kill the Reiss children, the act that gave Eren the Attack Titan to begin with. The story has been a closed circuit since Vol. 1 and admits it here. Ymir's own history is the argument underneath, two thousand years of building Titans for the man who enslaved her, ended when somebody finally tells her the choice is hers. The Japanese volume shipped on 9 December 2019.
