Guts takes the fight inside the Sea God in Berserk Volume 37. The publisher makes reaching its vulnerable heart and escaping afterward distinct problems. This paperback begins Deluxe 13, which collects standard Volumes 37 through 39. Read it after the island conflict in the preceding books: the change to a new hardcover marks a packaging boundary inside an already established confrontation, not the beginning of the danger.

The target's interior changes the meaning of a successful attack. PRH describes Guts seeking the Sea God's heart while explicitly raising the problem of getting back out. Victory and extraction consequently cannot be assumed to coincide. This is not the reason to buy the run as a standalone monster fight; the opponent and the predicament have already been established. Its distinctive constraint is the location of the fighter after he reaches his objective. Destroying the thing surrounding him might satisfy the attack while leaving the survival problem unresolved. Access can itself become a form of entrapment.
