Black Clover Volume 23 moves from the devil's defeat to reconstruction and blame. The Magic Knights are repairing the Clover Kingdom while Asta faces an accusation that threatens his life. This is an aftermath volume with a new problem, not a relaxed victory lap. Read it after the conflict it follows: the contrast between what Asta has just survived and how he is treated supplies the reason to continue beyond the battle's apparent endpoint.

Reconstruction and responsibility are different tasks. The publisher places the Knights' work of repairing the kingdom beside Asta being blamed and scheduled for execution, so the aftermath cannot be measured only in restored buildings. A community can be trying to recover while making a destructive decision about a particular person. That is the institutional tension worth following here, without inventing a courtroom procedure the listing does not describe. The battle's conclusion has changed the source of immediate danger: Asta must now survive the account being made of the crisis, as well as having survived the crisis itself.
