Bleach Volume 5 opens with Uryu Ishida declaring his hostility to Soul Reapers. The inspected contents list chapters 35 to 43. Its opening then returns to school rankings and classmates, so the new rivalry arrives through a familiar social setting before its larger conflict is explained. This is a continuation of Ichigo's story, not a separate starting point. Omnibus 2 and Box Set 1 already contain this standard book; buying either alongside the single duplicates its story coverage.

Ishida makes the disagreement personal before Ichigo can even remember his name. The interruption by exam results gives that hostility an awkward scale: the boy announcing hatred of Soul Reapers is also the classmate Ichigo has failed to notice. Orihime knows his name and his crafts-club membership, while Ichigo is surprised by his ranking. The final inspected page shows Ishida taking out a sewing kit. That detail complicates an introduction built around hate without explaining away the hostility. He has an ordinary skill and a place among these students, even when Ichigo reduces him to an intruder in Soul Reaper business. This reading covers only printed pages 7 to 17 of the licensed VIZ preview, not the later contest or its outcome.
