Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 6 returns to Edward and Alphonse's childhood training on an island. This bounded reading uses Yen Press's licensed digital edition through BookWalker, whose contents open with The Masked Man. It does not certify the VIZ paperback's chapter range, wording or pagination. The opening follows Izumi's explanation of the survival test and the brothers' encounter with a masked attacker. Continue the sequence for the surrounding apprenticeship story; the full month's result is outside this excerpt.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Izumi calls the island the foundation of alchemy and frames survival as a test of whether the brothers deserve her time. Sig questions whether children should face that ordeal. Their disagreement matters because the attack immediately makes the danger more than an abstract lesson. The masked man strikes and throws them, and Edward loses sight of Alphonse before they find each other again. Being left with little equipment does not itself give them practical knowledge: when they catch a rabbit, they still hesitate over what obtaining food requires. The teacher's confident explanation and the students' fear occupy different sides of the same training arrangement. This reading covers only the opening chapter title and printed pages 8 to 17 of the licensed digital preview; it does not endorse the method or establish its eventual success.
