- Season 2: Shibuya Incident ep. 30–47
Chapters 89 to 97, and the hinge of the entire series. What the plan in Shibuya was for happens in the first chapters of this book, and everything in the remaining nineteen volumes proceeds from it. Beyond that this page says nothing, because the turn is the reason to read the volume. Season 2 covers it, so a viewer who finished that season starts at Vol. 16. A reader arriving from Vol. 10 should have Vols. 12 and 13 to hand, since the arc runs continuously to Vol. 16 and this volume resolves none of it. Viz lists it in print at $11.99 and 192 pages.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
Gojo is sealed in the Prison Realm early in this volume, and the series spends fourteen volumes without him. That is the structural decision the whole run rests on: a story with a character who solves any problem removes him on purpose, at a point where roughly a third of the chapters have been published, and then tests whether the rest of the cast can carry it. Before the seal closes he asks the man in Geto's body who he is, having killed Geto the previous year, and the answer reveals the real antagonist: an impostor who changes bodies by changing brains, not named as Kenjaku until Vol. 17, and who has been the Geto of every scene since Vol. 2. The argument to have with this volume is whether the series survives its own choice.
