- Season 16: Punk Hazard ep. 579–628
A talking severed head is the arrival that matters most in this book, and it belongs to a samurai the series keeps. Chapters 657 to 667 are the first full volume on Punk Hazard, an island the series calls the burning island, with the crew scattered across it in groups, a Marine detachment under Smoker and Tashigi landing behind them, and Trafalgar Law on the ground wearing a Warlord's title he did not hold before. Kin'emon, found by Franky, Sanji, Nami and Chopper while he looks for the rest of himself and for a son named Momonosuke, is the one who lasts: he is still in the story fifteen volumes later. Season 16 covers chapters 655 to 698, so a viewer has seen everything here. 224 pages at Viz's standard $11.99.

'Cool Fight' is the name on the spine, and the book is spent working out what kind of place the crew has landed on. The heart-swapping is the organizing gag. Law takes the hearts of Franky, Sanji, Nami and Chopper and puts them back in the wrong bodies, then does the same to Smoker and Tashigi, so a stretch of the arc runs as body-swap comedy. That sits directly on top of what else the island holds: giant children locked in a room called the Biscuits Room. The place was Dr. Vegapunk's research facility, sealed off and abandoned by another scientist involved in one of his failed experiments, which is the arc's first suggestion that the thing to be afraid of here is government science rather than a pirate. Law is on the island with a Warlord's seat and no stated reason for having taken one.
