Tokyo Ghoul continues amid fighting at Doctor Kano's underground facility. This is a purchase for readers already following the investigation that has brought ghouls and the CCG into the same dangerous space. Keep it beside the preceding volume when reading that stretch: a battle location is not a fresh introduction to the people converging there. The practical attraction is the collision of the investigation with an immediate physical conflict.

The facility fight matters because violence and evidence occupy the same place. VIZ identifies Shinohara as Kaneki's opponent, then describes the CCG finding material that brings Kano's plans closer to exposure after the fighting subsides. Winning a confrontation and learning what the facility means are separate jobs. That gives the book a stronger rationale as part of the investigation sequence than as a loose battle purchase. Its contribution is the relationship between those jobs: the combat has an aftermath in which the investigators can act on something other than an opponent's presence.
