Tokyo Ghoul follows the CCG beyond the underground facility as pressure spreads across the wards. This paperback belongs with the investigation sequence, especially for readers interested in the institution pursuing ghouls. The previous book's discoveries supply the immediate reason to continue. It is a poor first sample of the series: the buying interest lies in what an established investigator can learn about an established organization, with their history already in place.

Amon's inquiry changes the direction of suspicion. VIZ says he finds a link between the CCG and an underground laboratory apparently studying the transformation of humans into ghouls. The qualification matters: an apparent research purpose is not a complete account of responsibility. Even within that limit, the institution investigating the problem has become part of the problem being investigated. This makes the volume relevant to readers following institutional accountability rather than merely Kaneki's combat ability. Its purchase value rests on that complication, not on treating an investigation's new lead as a settled explanation.
