Yusuke briefly imagines explaining his return and receiving Keiko’s praise. The rule against speaking to her forces him to attempt the rescue without that recognition, which gives the scene a more demanding condition than simply winning a fight. His disguises come from a bag of pachinko prizes: an ordinary comic prop becomes a way to act while concealing who acts. Keiko’s unconsciousness then leads him to discard the first mask, though he keeps a second disguise. This is practical concealment, not proof that he has stopped wanting credit. Once the attackers recognize him, he still insults their courage and intelligence. Protecting Keiko and enjoying his superiority coexist. The opening tests his ability to help under a restriction without pretending the helpful action has erased his vanity.
