Rin learned what kindness can be worth in her parents' house. They put on a show of being happy around their cursed daughter, until she asked whether they ever felt anything else and the act collapsed into abuse; Haru is the one who got her out. So when Tohru turns up wanting to break the curse, Rin hears a kind person about to discover that the Sohmas are too much work, and she strikes first. The line is also flatly hypocritical, and the hypocrisy is the point. Rin is hunting for the same thing herself, bargaining with Shigure for whatever he knows about ending it, ever since Akito pushed her from a window for taking the blame over Haru. Breaking the curse is a risk she will take alone and forbid anyone else. Every accusation in it is aimed at Tohru, and every one describes what accepting help has cost Rin before.

Rin is the horse, and she is searching for a way to break the curse. She has been hospitalized, and she says this about the bond the rest of the family speaks of in the language of a blessing. That is the argument the series needed and had not had until she arrived: the 2001 anime, with no Rin in it, could present the curse as sad but beautiful. Rin calls it a chain and refuses the beauty, and the story is better for having one person in it who is simply angry.
