Death Note Volume 8 opens with Sayu Yagami's kidnapping and a demand for the notebook. The inspected contents list chapters 62 to 70. Its first scene continues the investigation and the Yagami family's emergency from the preceding book; it is not a new starting point. Black Edition 4 and the complete box include this standard book's story coverage. Choose this single to continue the paperback sequence, and check existing collected ownership before buying the same chapters again.

Soichiro initially accepts that duty requires treating his daughter's kidnapping as another police case. Light interrupts that reasoning with an account of how broadcasting the earlier kidnapping could have informed Kira. The explanation sounds like a safeguard against bias, while Light's private thoughts show him managing suspicion around himself and his family. His knowledge of the notebooks gives the argument a concealed advantage over the listeners, who must judge it as a hypothesis. That does not make every detail he offers false; the manipulation works through a plausible account that directs what information should circulate. This reading covers only printed pages 7 to 19 of the licensed VIZ preview. It does not establish Sayu's rescue, the notebook exchange or the later raid's outcome.
