Original Dragon Ball paperback 3 contains Tales 25–36 and opens with Goku seeking training from Kame-Sen’nin. Krillin arrives during the opening chapter. This is the original sixteen-book Dragon Ball line, not Dragon Ball Z or Super. VIZBIG 1 also includes original singles 1–3, while the original Dragon Ball box includes all sixteen. The analysis stops before the training program begins; it does not use Krillin’s arrival to claim a complete account of his relationship with Goku.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
The opening gives the prospective teacher an ugly condition: Goku must bring him an attractive woman before he will agree to train him. Goku’s misunderstanding of the demand and a mermaid’s retaliation make the encounter comic, but the bargain still uses promised instruction to pursue sexual access. Kame-Sen’nin later dresses the search for a woman in the language of combat conditioning. That explanation gives him a teaching rationale for a demand his behavior has already exposed. Krillin’s arrival interrupts this exchange before any actual program can justify the master’s authority. This reading covers printed pages 7–17 of VIZ’s licensed original Dragon Ball Volume 3 preview, part of Tale 25. It does not claim that the remainder is merely comedy or that later useful teaching excuses this condition.
