Original Dragon Ball 4 continues the tournament with Yamcha facing Jackie Chun. The paperback collects Tales 37–48, using the manga’s installment numbering. Its opening analysis examines how a contestant and the spectators judge an unfamiliar opponent before a result is known. VIZBIG 2 contains original volumes 4–6, so it overlaps this single; the complete original-series box also includes it. These are original Dragon Ball numbers. A book labeled Dragon Ball Z 4 or Super 4 belongs to a different run.

Yamcha sees Jackie Chun’s relaxed posture as an opening, but remembers that the old man’s qualifying fights ended quickly. His assessment already contains evidence against his confidence. The first exchange makes the overlooked skill visible: Jackie avoids the attacks and criticizes Yamcha’s wasted movement. Bulma’s comments measure the opponent through age and appearance, while Goku defends Yamcha by recalling their own difficult fight. Each judgment has a source; none guarantees how this match will go. Goku’s belief in his friend is therefore more interesting than either blind encouragement or an accurate prediction supplied afterward. The reading is bounded to printed pages 7–17 of VIZ’s licensed preview, within Tale 37. It ends during the exchange and does not use the final match result or an unseen explanation of Jackie’s identity.
