Season 21: Egghead ep. 1089–1155

Chapters 1066 to 1076, and the arrival of six characters who are all the same man. Dr. Vegapunk has split his consciousness into satellite bodies, and this is the book that lists all six with their numbers and jobs: Shaka, Lilith, Edison, Pythagoras, Atlas and York, 01 to 06, each built out of one part of him. They read at first as a gag about a scientist who argues with himself. One of the six settles how the Egghead arc ends, and which one belongs in the section below. CP0 lands in the same chapters with orders that have nothing to do with the Straw Hats. Season 21 runs from chapter 1060 to about 1125, so the anime has been through this. Omnibus book 36 starts here by the same reckoning as the book before it, and the following Omnibus 37 is announced for January 12, 2027. 208 pages, $11.99.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

York is Punk-06, Greed, and she is the one. She sells the arc to the Five Elders for a Celestial Dragon's seat, and the clue is planted in this book rather than the next: when S-Snake petrifies her, the other satellites cannot work out how it happened, because only Vegapunk or the Five Elders may countermand a Seraphim's order. The rest of the volume puts the Void Century back in the middle of the series for the first time since Ohara. Shaka explains that twenty kingdoms beat an advanced civilization in a war nobody is allowed to read about, founded the World Government on the win, and destroyed Ohara for reading about it anyway, and that Vegapunk built his career on the ruins that were left. Vegapunk asks Luffy to get him off the island because the government now reads him the same way it read Ohara. Lucci destroys Atlas, Stussy turns on her own team, and Kuma, awake and unexplained, starts climbing the Red Line.
