- Season 21: Egghead ep. 1089–1155
Twelve chapters of a battle that neither starts nor finishes here, and a book that does not stand alone. Chapters 1077 to 1088 break Egghead into simultaneous fights: Nami, Brook, Sanji and Edison against one Seraphim, Franky, Usopp and Lilith against another, Zoro and Kaku after a third, Luffy and Lucci still on the first. Then the book cuts away, repeatedly, to other stories on other islands. Almost nothing on Egghead is decided in it. Read inside the run from Vol. 106 to Vol. 110 it is where the arc acquires its scale; bought on its own it is twelve chapters of people mid-swing. The anime took it in during season 21, which ends at about chapter 1125. It is the middle of the three volumes we place in Omnibus book 36. 224 pages, $11.99.

The cutaways are the reason to own it. Kid is beaten by Shanks in a single blow on Elbaph and Law by Blackbeard on Winner Island, so the two captains who allied with Luffy through Wano are taken off the board in a few pages each. And the Reverie flashback finally runs. Cobra meets the Five Elders to ask about his ancestor Lili and the Will of D, a figure called Imu ascends the Empty Throne to answer him and to put questions of its own, and Cobra is mortally wounded for having learned that the name was Nefertari D. Lili. Sabo is told to run and to tell Luffy and Vivi that they share the D. That answers a death reported three volumes ago. On Egghead, Shaka is shot by York, and the satellite the others trusted is taken out by one of their own. The island's fights carry into the next book, which is the structural problem with this volume rather than a fault in its chapters.
