Season 21: Egghead ep. 1089–1155

Chapters 1101 to 1110, and the book where Egghead stops being a fight about one island. The flashback that took over the previous volume finishes in the opening chapters, and what follows is the government's full answer to a scientist who knows too much: an evacuation, a Buster Call, and orders nobody on the island is permitted to refuse. For a hundred volumes the Straw Hats have fought pirates, Warlords and admirals. The category of opponent changes here, and what it changes to is in the section below. This single is released; Omnibus 37 also collects it but is a January 12, 2027 preorder, alongside Vols. 110–111. Season 21 runs to about chapter 1125, past the end of this book. At 184 pages it is tied with Vols. 92 and 104 for the shortest book in the run.

Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.

Kuma arrives in time to take the blow meant for Bonney, and the first half of the volume explains why he cannot stay: Saturn made Vegapunk build a self-destruct into him, and setting it off lobotomized him down to a single instinct. Alpha, the nurse, had destroyed every letter he wrote her. Saturn also admits that he infected Ginny and dosed the infant Bonney himself. What turns the arc is what answers him. Luffy revives as Nika and puts Kizaru down without effort, the Pacifistas turn on the Buster Call because Vegapunk had programmed their loyalty to Bonney rather than to the state, Dorry and Brogy land with the Giant Pirates, and Vegapunk's pre-recorded broadcast starts the moment he dies. The other Elders arrive as yokai and do not stay cut. That is the change of category: the opponent is no longer an officer of the World Government but the thing sitting on top of it, and it does not die. Zoro beats Lucci in the same book.
