- Season 4: Alabasta ep. 93–130
Chapters 206 to 216 finish Alabasta, and this is the cleanest place to stop reading One Piece that the early run offers. The cannon is still live when the book opens and the two armies are still moving, so the first half is a countdown and the second is the bill. Whatever gets resolved is resolved completely and the arc holds nothing over. It is also the last volume in Box Set 1, which Viz states as volumes 1 to 23 at $244.99 against $275.77 for the twenty-three singles, so a reader who buys the set and stops here owns a finished story rather than a fragment. Eleven chapters, 232 pages, $11.99. Season 4 runs to chapter 217, one chapter past this book, so a viewer who finished it has seen everything here and a little more.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
The cannon is stopped, Luffy beats Crocodile, and then it rains, which is the ending the arc has been promising since a lie about rain started the war. The order matters. The rain is what stops the fighting, not the victory, and Alabasta is a story about a country made to tear itself apart over weather. Luffy spends what he has left saving King Cobra and Nico Robin. Vivi does not come with them. She is the crew member the series builds for six volumes and then declines to recruit, and the farewell is arranged by Bon Clay, who was a Baroque Works agent when they met him in Vol. 18. Box Set 1 ends here, so a reader working through the sets reaches a real ending and a real decision in the same place.
