The sharpest anime seam in One Piece falls on this book's first chapter. Season 4 ends at chapter 217, the first of the ten chapters collected here, and season 6 opens at chapter 218, the second. Season 5 sits between them and adapts nothing: thirteen episodes of anime-original material, after which a viewer is still at chapter 217 and still starts one chapter in. Chapters 217 to 226 leave Alabasta, and the search that replaces it begins with a ship falling out of the sky. This is the first book of Box Set 2, which Viz states as volumes 24 to 46 at $244.99.
Spoilers — why this volume matters. Tap to reveal.
Nico Robin joins in chapter 217, 'Stowaway', one volume after Luffy saved her life and two after she was running Crocodile's errands. The reason given is the debt from that rescue, Luffy accepts, and that is the whole of the debate. The seam makes this awkward for viewers: season 4 stops on that chapter and season 5 then spends thirteen episodes on material in none of these books, so the continuity between her rescue and her arrival sits entirely in the manga. The other thing the volume is known for is a beating Luffy takes and does not answer. Bellamy beats him up in front of the town while he keeps a promise to Nami not to fight in it, and chapters 224 and 225, 'Do Not Dream' and 'People's Dreams', turn that into the question the whole sky-island arc runs on: whether a place nobody can prove exists is worth sailing toward. The volume is named for the second of those two chapters.
