- Season 9: Enies Lobby ep. 264–336
Chapters 420 to 430, and the book that finishes the raid on Enies Lobby. The fight that opened in chapter 418 is settled inside these chapters rather than carried over, and the escape from the government's own Buster Call is arranged in the same eleven. Chapter 421 is titled 'Gear Three', the third step of an escalation that started in Vol. 40 and has taken four books to arrive. Then the closing chapters put the fighting down for something much quieter, and what that is belongs in the section below, because it is the reason this arc is more than a raid. The anime covered all of it inside season 9. 232 pages at Viz's standard $11.99.

The Going Merry is the reason to own this one. Luffy wins the Lucci fight, the Buster Call closes on the island, and the crew is cornered with no way off it: the ship that comes for them is the one they left broken in Water Seven. It carries them clear and then begins to come apart, and the closing chapters are a funeral. The crew burns the Merry at sea. Chapter 430 is called 'A Light Snow of Reminiscence Falls', and it settles an argument the Water Seven volumes spent themselves having: whether a ship the crew has outgrown is a thing or a crewmate. The series answers by holding a cremation for a piece of carpentry, and it works. Chapter 421's 'Gear Three' is the other reason, introduced two chapters in and spent immediately on the arc's last fight.
