Chapters 450 to 459 are the Thriller Bark arc explaining its own rules, and they are not the reason anybody buys One Piece. The crew is split across a fog-bound ship, its members start disappearing, and Brook sits the reader down and accounts for where they have gone. Nothing concludes. What the book is good for is the mechanism: Moria takes shadows, puts them into corpses, and the people he takes them from cannot stand in the sun. Season 10 of the anime covers all of it. The buying fact is the set boundary. Box Set 3 is stated by Viz as volumes 47 to 70, so this book opens it, and a reader collecting by set does not get the option of skipping the slow one.

The cover title comes from chapter 453 and it is a weather report. That is the register of the first half of Thriller Bark, and it is worth knowing before paying, because the arc front-loads its jokes and back-loads its fights. What the volume does carry is the cost line. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji lose their shadows in it, which puts the three strongest people in the crew on a timer that runs out at sunrise, and Nami goes missing on top of that. Chapter 455 is titled 'Gecko Moria of the Seven Warlords of the Sea', which is the book naming its antagonist and his rank in one line. Chapter 459 is the only stretch here with weight in it. Perona is set up here to be fought in the next book. This is a volume of introductions, and it does that job without being worth a second reading.
