Read the character analysis and its source limits
Sasuke attacks Kakashi when Naruto is being pinned, but the bell test still exposes the limits of his preference for working alone. Kakashi says Sasuke had treated the others as obstacles rather than partners. Later, despite the explicit prohibition on feeding Naruto, Sasuke offers him food and explains that the group will need everyone’s strength. He keeps the explanation abrasive by calling a hungry teammate a liability. That language does not erase the choice: he spends a resource on someone the exercise has instructed him to exclude. The scene therefore makes attachment visible before Sasuke becomes willing to describe it generously. It also limits the reading. Helping a teammate can serve a shared objective without proving selfless motives or settling the character’s later decisions. This introduction uses the licensed opening of Naruto 2, chapter 8, through the food-sharing scene; later manga events and anime wording are outside this reading.

Announced to the person it will eventually be aimed at, which is what makes it a contract rather than a mood. Everything the character does for the next several hundred episodes is this sentence being honored: the defection, the teacher chosen precisely because nobody sane would choose him, the willingness to be a worse person on purpose. The series never lets him take it back cheaply, and the cost is the whole second half.

Sasuke's plan depends on the friendship it appears to discard. Nothing here says the bond is worthless; the whole plan requires it to be real and load-bearing, because a tie that meant nothing would not need severing. He is treating attachment as the obstacle with the highest tensile strength in his way, and paying it the compliment of attacking it directly at the Final Valley.

A clan of people defined by their eyes, and their last survivor announces he has closed his. Read against the Sharingan the sentence is almost a joke, except that he later has his brother's eyes implanted. What it marks in the arc is the point where revenge stops being a goal with an end and becomes the only environment he can operate in. Compare the boy in the first arc, whose stated aim was to kill one man and then presumably do something else. There is no second half here. He has redefined seeking so that finding is not part of it, which is why nothing he obtains for the next hundred episodes makes any difference to him.

By this page the story has shown Sasuke's grades, his window, his lunch and a rival calling him the class heartthrob, and not one panel about his family, so a fair reader asks where he gets the standing to say this. Hold that objection and read what Sakura said to earn it. Her theory, that Naruto was badly brought up and answers to no one, is the village's contempt with a child's reason attached, and the mechanism was named a chapter earlier: on folio 74 the Hokage describes adults who know the cause treating the boy with hostility, and children who know nothing picking it up and perpetuating it. Sakura is that mechanism speaking. Sasuke does not need a biography to notice; he needs only to have listened. His closing insult is hers from folio 93, returned word for word, and two pages later she is wondering whether Naruto feels that way too. The standing comes from the page, not from his past.

The introductions exercise is a genre convention: each genin states a name, a like, a dislike, a dream. Kishimoto uses it to withhold. Sasuke answers every prompt in the negative and refuses the last one outright, and the two facts a viewer would need to make sense of that, the massacred clan and the brother who did it, are not supplied for dozens of episodes. The speech works because it is a hole shaped like a backstory.
