Kanade is unconscious in the infirmary after being stabbed by her duplicate. Matsushita proposes waiting for her to wake, a sensible objection to treating the copy as an enemy who must be defeated by force. If someone deliberately produced it, asking that person to undo the act is the obvious alternative. The condition is doing more work than the proposed solution. Hinata points back to Kanade's injured state, and Yuri suggests that she produced the clone subconsciously. Neither the existence of a creator nor the group's wish for a reversible process establishes conscious control. Matsushita deserves credit for looking for an answer other than another fight. His error is letting the attractive simplicity of that answer outrun what they know about the person who would have to supply it. Yuri's account remains a hypothesis, too. The scene leaves them with an injured girl and competing explanations, not a demonstrated switch they have merely forgotten to ask her to turn off.
