Misa Amane can recognize exploitation without abandoning the relationship that exposes her to it. In the licensed English Death Note Volume 5, printed pages 49 and 51, she asks for dates and calls herself Light's girlfriend. When he treats her affection as an unwanted imposition, she challenges him for taking advantage of it by kissing her. Printed page 53 gives her attachment another basis: she credits Kira with punishing her parents' killer and says she would like Light even more if he were Kira. Gratitude and romantic desire reinforce each other, but her objection shows that devotion has not erased her expectations. Separately, Wikiquote's secondary manga transcription records her willingness to be used in chapter 29 alongside a chapter 30 threat to kill other girls if Light dates them. The threat prevents willingness from being mistaken for harmless obedience. She offers herself while imposing a dangerous condition on him. The same transcription's chapter 56 exchange adds information she lacks: Light appeals to a lasting life together and opposes the eye deal, while Ryuk privately rejects his sincerity. Misa hugs Light gratefully. Her ability to object and impose conditions does not make their information equal. These passages leave room for both her initiative and her vulnerability, without treating either as a defense of threatening other women.

Light objects that the plan puts Misa in too much danger. She thanks him for worrying, then asks to be useful and loved more. Those requests precede the willingness to die. The page gives devotion an exchange rate: taking on danger could make her more valuable to the person whose affection she wants. Her willingness is serious, but the scene does not establish a matching promise from Light. His objection supplies evidence of concern, and Misa treats it as encouragement. It also leaves the underlying bargain unsettled. Help and love are different things; supplying more of one cannot compel the other. Read beside her request for increased affection, the final declaration sounds less like a completed decision than a commitment whose return she cannot control. The cost she is willing to bear is hers. Whether Light loves her more would still be his choice.

Writing her as a besotted girl is the charge the series usually faces, and a first pass hears the line that way. It is more exact than that. She is not asking to be loved, she is naming the terms she will accept and closing the negotiation herself, which is what someone does when they have already priced the alternative. Everything she gives up afterwards is bargained for here, out loud, with the buyer present.
