Matsushita holds a clone back after being stabbed, telling the others to escape while he remains conscious. Yuri converts that opening into a method: pin the copies down and keep moving. Takamatsu supplies the next step, turning an individual action into a ratio of people to obstacles. Otonashi objects to the word that makes the ratio sound economical. That objection does not establish a better escape plan. It does expose what the calculation has left out: the person counted must endure the encounter that allows everyone else to pass. Takamatsu is not reserving that burden for others. The same corridor sequence later has him charge a clone himself. His participation makes the proposal less hypocritical without making its casual accounting adequate. Yuri's hope that saving the original Angel will save everyone gives the group a reason to proceed; it does not turn Matsushita's remaining consciousness into a negligible resource. The method becomes repeatable by describing a body as the cost of getting past one more copy.
