Which English Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Should You Buy?

Choose Jujutsu Kaisen singles or the announced complete box, account for Volume 0, and avoid buying books you already own.

Last updated October 8, 2026

Start with Volume 1 if you want to try the main story; buy the complete box only if you want to commit to the entire collection and its packaging. VIZ identifies Volume 30 as the final numbered volume, while its Complete Box Set contains those 30 books plus Volume 0 and a double-sided poster.

Checked October 8, 2026: the final single volume has a May 12, 2026 publication date; the box set is announced for October 27, 2026. The latter is a future publication, rather than another way to begin reading today.

The overlap is straightforward but easy to underestimate. If you own Volumes 1–10, the complete box supplies Volumes 11–30 and Volume 0 while repeating ten books. Its appeal would have to come from wanting an entire matched purchase or the stated extra, rather than from needing those ten volumes again. Count the missing books before comparing any retailer offers; a box title is not itself a reason to restart your shelf.

Volume 0 is a separate book

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 follows Yuta Okkotsu and his childhood friend Rika, with Gojo bringing him to Jujutsu High. Volume 1’s publisher description instead introduces Yuji Itadori and the Occult Research Club. These are distinct starting books, not two labels for the same installment.

For a cautious first purchase, use Volume 1 to decide whether to continue the numbered run. Choose Volume 0 deliberately if that separate introduction is what interests you. A zero on the spine should not be treated as a spare copy of Volume 1, and a collection of Volumes 1–30 should not be assumed to include it unless the contents say so. The announced complete box does say so.

Check the actual edition

The single Volume 1 paperback is ISBN 9781974710027. The complete box uses ISBN 9781974769353.

Use those identifiers when a listing has an abbreviated title or several formats. For a used box, request the exact book list and confirmation of the poster: the publisher’s advertised contents do not establish what remains in a particular secondhand copy. For a partly assembled shelf, write down the missing numbers and buy that list. The Jujutsu Kaisen catalog keeps the book and edition records together so that the box’s collection number is not confused with a story volume.
