Magic Knight Rayearth

Editions and box sets

Compare the story coverage as well as the binding. Each edition has a page listing every book in it, with its ISBN and release date.

Which edition to buy

Read the first three volumes before Part 2, which restarts its printed numbering at Vol. 1. The paperback list below follows both arcs in reading order. The two 25th Anniversary boxes cover the first and second arcs respectively; each holds three hardcover manga books and an art book. Those are alternate presentations of the same story, so a complete paperback set does not need both boxes to finish the manga. The paperback edition uses the revised translation from the anniversary release. This catalog covers the Kodansha editions; it does not establish a page-by-page crosswalk to older editions.

Compare the first numbered book in each edition below. A later box set is not a starting point for the story. List prices are publisher prices in US dollars, not current shop offers.

What each edition costs

Collected list prices are divided by the standard volumes each edition holds. The singles row shows the most common single-book list price; its total sums each book’s price. Retailer offers can differ.
