Naruto: Box Set 1: Vols 1–27
Vols. 1 to 27, all of Part I, in 'a quality sturdy corrugate display box' with premium items Viz does not itemize. For a reader who wants Part I as one purchase; the 3-in-1 Edition is far cheaper per volume.
Box Set 1
Naruto Box Set 1 holds volumes 1 to 27, the whole of Part I, for a reader who wants the first story complete before deciding on the rest. Viz calls it 'the first Naruto story arc'. It opens on a village at peace twelve years after a nine-tailed fox spirit attacked it, and on a troublemaking kid struggling to graduate from Ninja Academy. The box breaks where the anime does: all five seasons of the original series fall inside chapters 1 to 244, and Shippuden begins at chapter 245, where Box Set 2 starts. The anime adapts through chapter 700, so no viewer needs these books to continue. At list the set is $10.74 a volume against $11.99 singly and $5.66 in the 3-in-1 Edition, so it undercuts singles and not the 3-in-1. What it adds is the display box and the premium items, which Viz does not itemize.
