Hol Horse's chivalry is sincere, and it is also the only code he has. The full speech opens with him admitting that he keeps girls all over the world and tells them white lies, then closes on this promise, so specific it sounds like a man negotiating with himself. He is swearing against a prediction in Boingo's comic, and Boingo, the child he kidnapped from Aswan to be his oracle, replies only that the book is a hundred percent true. The oath has a history. Back in episode 11 his escape from Polnareff came courtesy of his lover Nena getting in the way, and it was the Joestar group, not Hol Horse, who treated her wounds afterward. So the man who will never hit a woman has already let one pay for his getaway, and the distinction plainly matters to him. It is what makes him the most human of DIO's hired guns: a hitman whose ethics are a list of exceptions, every one of them heartfelt.
