JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Manga Buying Guide: Every VIZ Part and the Reading Order

VIZ’s JoJo hardcovers part by part: how many books each part runs, where Steel Ball Run stands, what is not in English, the side stories and the order to read them.

Last updated October 7, 2026

VIZ publishes JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in English as a run of hardcovers, one numbered series per part, and the numbering restarts at 1 every time a new part begins. That matters when ordering: “JoJo Volume 1” could mean any of several different books. The first six parts have no books still to come in VIZ’s listings; Part 7, Steel Ball Run, is still coming out. This guide found no English print edition of the parts that follow it.

What VIZ publishes, part by part

VIZ product listings, checked October 7, 2026. Each part’s numbering starts again at 1; the ISBN is that part’s first book.

Part 7: Steel Ball Run11 listed: 1–9 out, 10 and 11 preorders2025–20269781974752546

That is 53 hardcovers published so far across the seven parts, plus two Steel Ball Run preorders. Every main-part book on VIZ’s site is listed as a hardcover with a trim of 5¾ × 8¼ inches (a few listings print the two numbers the other way round). The JoJo manga catalog lists every ISBN by part.

VIZ marks where most of the finished parts end. The third Phantom Blood book is “The conclusion of the Phantom Blood Arc!”, the fourth Battle Tendency book is “The conclusion of the fight against the Pillar Men!”, and VIZ’s part lists badge Stardust Crusaders 10, Diamond Is Unbreakable 9 and Stone Ocean 9 as “Final Volume!” Golden Wind carries no such badge, but VIZ lists nine books and no tenth. The Stone Ocean 9 listing calls it “the thrilling conclusion of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean.”

Steel Ball Run is still in progress

VIZ’s Part 7 list holds eleven books. Books 1 to 9 were published between May 27, 2025 and September 22, 2026; book 10 is a preorder for November 24, 2026 and book 11 for January 26, 2027 (checked October 7, 2026). Neither VIZ listing calls either book the last, so this guide makes no claim about how many books the English Part 7 will run to. Buying it now means buying an unfinished run.

What is not in English print

VIZ’s own JoJo series page says Araki’s current works include “a new series set in the JoJo universe, JoJolion.” A VIZ manga search for JoJolion returned no results on October 7, 2026, and neither did one for The JOJOLands, which Anime News Network’s encyclopedia lists as a sequel of JoJolion with the alternative title JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9. A failed search is not proof that no English edition exists anywhere, but neither title appears among VIZ’s books today (checked October 7, 2026), so a buyer who finishes Steel Ball Run has no later main part to move on to in VIZ print.

The hardcovers were not VIZ’s first English JoJo books. Anime News Network’s user-edited encyclopedia entry records an earlier run of graphic novels beginning September 1, 2005, which it labels the third arc, but its own dates for that run disagree with one another, so this guide gives no book count or end date for it. A VIZ manga search for Stardust Crusaders now returns only the ten hardcovers. This guide does not map the older books onto the hardcovers, so check chapters before mixing the two.

The side stories VIZ sells

Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe is a separate hardcover line of three books, the third published July 7, 2026. VIZ calls the first “a standalone series” that debuts “in the same deluxe hardcover format as the hit JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga,” and the second notes that Rohan was “First introduced in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 4--Diamond Is Unbreakable.” Its numbers are its own: Rohan 1 is not a main-part book. The Rohan inventory has the ISBNs.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Shining Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak is different again: three paperbacks at 5 × 7½ inches, published December 3, 2024 to April 1, 2025, with an original concept by Hirohiko Araki, story by Kohei Kadono and art by Tasuku Karasuma, according to the first book’s listing. The second listing sets it in Morioh with Josuke Higashikata, the town and hero that open the Diamond Is Unbreakable hardcovers, and VIZ’s list badges book 3 as “Final Volume!” VIZ also sells a novel, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Purple Smoke Distortion: a 264-page hardcover written by Kohei Kadono, released April 28, 2026, whose listing sets its story after Part 5, Golden Wind.

Reading order

  • Main story: Phantom Blood 1–3, Battle Tendency 1–4, Stardust Crusaders 1–10, Diamond Is Unbreakable 1–9, Golden Wind 1–9, Stone Ocean 1–9, then Steel Ball Run from 1.
  • Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe: any time after Diamond Is Unbreakable, where Rohan first appears.
  • Shining Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak: after Diamond Is Unbreakable, since it is set in Morioh with Josuke.
  • Purple Smoke Distortion: after Golden Wind, where VIZ’s listing sets it.

When ordering, match the part name and the ISBN, not just a number. A gift of “JoJo Vol. 2” could be Phantom Blood 2 or Steel Ball Run 2, and both exist. For the anime, the JoJo watch order lists the seasons by part; this guide makes no claim about which book any episode reaches. The Stand names guide covers the names VIZ’s English print changes.
